Not so sure about the quality of this carb from Chalmers. I pulled the main needle and looked at it under my dissecting scope. It looks like the bit used to drill the needle holes had a serious case of the wobbles. The outer wall of the needle is scooped, whereas on my original they are clean as...

That's good to know. So what else might cause (dripping) wet choke with dry plug and no start? I've started with needles at 1.5 turns and backed them out 1/4-1/2 at a time but it doesn't catch anywhere along the way and at about 2.5-3 turns I get gas spraying out the choke.

are the needles any good on junk Chinese carbs? Main reason I bought it was because I trashed my the needles on my Kohler and I was approaching new carb cost anyway to buy replacement parts. If I can scavenge the main needle from this I'll still come out about even. But its worrisome that I'm...

I gave it a rap but no go. Its basically doing the same thing as it was a month ago, before I ruined the old carb and bought a new one. Gas spewing out the choke, but apparently none getting to the spark plug.

My latest quandary: I have spark, I have fuel to the brand new carburetor, but I don't see any evidence of fuel getting to the cylinder. This is a new one for me.

Mike, I'd love nothing more than to get the old 108 running. It hasn't run in over a month, thanks to me being it's mechanic. But hopefully I will have that fixed in soon. I have all the parts, cept the new coil. Its mounted vertical. I assume it has overheated because I haven't read any...

My 108's coil is leaking a bit of oil into the spark plug wire well. I have one on order but can I use it in the meantime?

Thanks Charlie. How much (if any) wiggle is allowable in the throttle attachment on top of the carb. Someone at Carter Gruenewald suggested I check it and there is a bit of wiggle. They said it might mean I need a new carb. I am getting pretty sick of taking it apart and putting it back together...

I think I may have messed up my main jet nozzle on a Kohler #26. I didn't realize I didn't need to take it out for cleaning, and it didn't come out easy. Nor did it go back in easy, and it also did not go in without damage to the screwdriver slot. Tractor isn't starting now. Could this be the...

Does it matter if my idle/air mixture screw (Cub 108 "26" carb) is bent, if it still screws in properly? Not sure how/when it happened...it might have been that way a while and it might have just happened when I pulled the carb apart and had to reef on the center sleeve

Thanks for the comments. I forgot the 147 was narrow, that wont do because my blade/deck is WF. So its essentially down to the 149 and 1450, and I have one of each for sale within a few hours of me for about $600 and 700. Only problem is, now I see the tillers sometimes cost more than the...

Well if I must buy a new tractor, I must buy a new tractor...but my trusty 108 will have to go if I do. No room for both. So what should I check/watch out for in a hydro model? If I'm going to go up in hp I might as well go to a 14 horse, I think. Opinions on 147 vs 149 vs 1450 for my...

Hmmm....it sounds almost as if you guys are authorizing the purchase of a bigger Cub, which might also make my driveway plowing a bit easier. Hmmm...I'll have to think about this difficult decision for 2 or 3 seconds...

is my little 108 capable of doing any tilling? if so, what types/models of tillers are available (for the lea$t amount po$$ible)?. I'm just thinking of expanding my garden by quite a large margin and dont know If I'm better off just buying/borrowing a walk behind...

I'm happy to report that thanks to my new tines I finally got my lawn cut without my subframe falling off the rockshaft and without throwing a belt. On to the next problem! The tip of the bar that locks into notches that hold the deck at various heights is busted off. I'm guessing this...

Dave-I'm running 490489R2 belts and I found a place that is selling em for 10...I'll have to wait till Thursday to see what arrives, but they claim they are cub/mtd belts. In disassembling everything one more time I discovered one of the deck wheels was quite mangled and the tire was coming...

Ummm..scratch that reply. two minutes later the belt that I have yet to pay $39 for snapped (at least I found where I can get them for $10 since then). The tines had of course come off the rockshaft, which makes sense because there was no logical reason for them to suddenly stay on. If...

Yea. Got a new battery and my mower worked for 20 minutes straight and the belt never jumped off. That beats my former 2010 record by 15 minutes! . Thanks Ken, Myron, and Jeff and whoever else I forgot. Got another hour and half to go now....
