    Kraig, You will even like the spring assist with the mower deck. I mow a lot off lawn, and lift the deck momentarily to clear some rough spots I set the spring so that the deck stays down on its own, hardly requires any effort to hold it up for a few feet/yards.

    I have a windbreaker cab (that I have never used)that was on an early wide frame,that appears that you need to drill holes in the tops of the fenders to install it. The tractor it was used on had holes drilled in the top of the fenders. I was going to use it on my 126/147,but will probably not.

    resistor bypass: I recently converted a Farmall 300 to 12 volt and used an external resistor on the original 6V coil. Hard starting was sometimes experienced,so I went to Radio shack and got a small relay and created a resistor bypass circuit. Now it fires up easily everytime.

    Another reason to operate at full throttle is that most/all engine driven attachments were designed to operate at full engine speed for maximun efficiency of that attachment. My operators manual for the mower deck specifies full engine speed when mowing.

    Craig, The gear teeth on the crankshaft are most likely damaged/ruined. Pull the engine and pull the pan for a good look. Engine is possibly beyond economical repair unless you have a bunch of spare parts.
