hydro valve assembly leak. The small hex head "valve assembly" is leaking fluid out the top the small vent hole has fluid coming out what would cause this. Is this an over pressure relief or is it a bad o-ring? It is called out as part #37 for the 1250.

Lucas Getting the timing perfect for valve clearence is not needed. The valves are at full clearence for a bit of crank turn. You should see the gap while you rotate the crank.

hydro oil question. I opened the rear on a 1250 hydro, the oil looked fine however it looks like a waxy deposit above the oil level. The inside of the rear is coated any thoughts?

Heli coil insert, I do Navy Nuclear work the Mil Spec is 1-1/2 threads bellow the surface. We have "inspectors" for LOL and yes if it is to deep, or shallow its a rework. Loctite is good, if you use the tang type make sure you remove it when installed. Heli Coils do come in different lengths so...

How does it happen that when I buy a machine (tractor, mill, lathe or what ever) that needs some work I end up deciding to pull it all apart and get it going good? I don’t go much for the perfect paint or super new look, but I want it to run good and work. That said after getting the 1250...

Mattnot saying the B&S is the best, however mine has run very good. I did pull the motor to fix the oil seal (flywheel side) The motor was cake getting off the tractor as compaired to my 1200. It has no ISO mounts and far smoother than my 1200 or 1250. Its has its weak points as most designs do...

582 carb problem, Not sure whats difficult on these I did mine with no issues. You can pull the top off the carb without removing it. If you pull the top you will be able to see whats in the bowl, often telling you whats needed to fix. The B&S twin is a fine engine, mine runs great and has good...

582 fuel pump is vaccuum driven. Take a look a the hose down to block. If you haven't already opened the carb you might want to, if water is in the bowl you won't get much fuel either.
