Norm, The "jerky" problem sounds like the springs are not working correctly on the speed control plate. The springs are supposed to absorb abd smoothly let the hysraulics to engage.

Well the sumer rush is over and the kids are back in school. The engine on the 1100 internally detonated and made it's way to the scrap metal pile. I've built up a K321 and am now attempting to shoehorn it into the 1100 chassis. If anyone has some guidance I'd sure appreciate it. the 1100...

Tom, You have a short somewhere. Take a jumper directly from the plus terminal of the battery to the starter solinoid (small ignition wire). If the engine cranks over the problem is between the solinoid and the key switch. Disconnect the small wire from the solinoid and put a voltage...

Steve, I'm old school. I use a half cup of automatic Transmission Fluid right before changing the oil in any/all of my engines. The ATF I use is a high detergent oil and makes the insides spotless. Whenever I would get a junkyard engine to install in one of my vehicles I would do this a...

Pretty much all the info you need to convert over to tapered pins is located here. http://www.stanlok.com/taper_pins.html Once you've installed tapered pins properly you should NEVER have problems again (short of shearing them off of course!).

You've got to ask yourself where the mising thermostat parts went. If you can't account for them they may be blocking up the coolant flow

I just spent a little time in the Parts Lookup and it appears to me that the hydrostatic transaxles for the 123, 129, and 1250 are the same; have same part numbers. wow, talk about smart manufacturing thought process; get a good design and stay with it. Mike, what is slip plate?

Dave, Sorry for the confusion but all my cubs are S/G. Same story though you just unbolt the started from the block and make a good ground to the block when you turn the key. The starter should really torque so hold on tight. I turn the shaft (aft) side of the engine when hand cranking the...

Looking for a pair of sheetmetal covers for the mower deck of my 127. Personally I don't mind the whirling pulleys/belt but if I want my wife to cut the lawn I need to cover them up. Thanks for your consideration Bob Klein Charlestown, RI

For Sale (or trade): I picked up one to many Cubs recently and need to get them off the property before the wife finds out (he he he). Cub 129 Hydrostatic 12hp Kohler with hydraulic lift. I had it running when I offloaded it from my trailer (typical kohler it did smoke some) but it appears...

David, you wrote, "When I hit the key, the starter can't even turn it over, so I am assuming that it is an internal problem..." It's diagnostic time. Let's start with the electrical. The S/G NEEDS good wires and CLEAN terminals at all connections from the battery to the S/G (that...
