Christopher, At the risk suggesting what may already be obvious to you.... Once you do get the nut off, I recommend you use a little anti-seize compound prior to reassembly. I had been using and maintaining mowers for nearly two decades before I learned this secret from a very wise man...

Todd, It sounds like you have everything under control. I doubt a low battery could cause the anti drift spring to break - more likely failed after 30 years of service. I don't know what kind of lube to use but I think I would want to give it something. Most starters probably don't...

Todd, I know that an 11 volt battery will not start my 1250, but the starter would engage the flywheel and groan to a halt. What spring broke?

Aaron, That quick attach system is a great idea. I'm sure that you will come up with another item or two put on the front of that loader.

Marty G., Your tractor looks amazing. Thanks for hanging in there and figuring out how to post the pictures. I really like the appearance of your tire combination. I need to replace my factory tires before too long, what tires did you use? Thanks.

Hi Everyone! Everett, I'm not sure if anyone answered your question about magnetic heaters. I have a 200 watt Zerostart "Super Heat Magnet". I haven't needed it lately, but when I've used it in the past, I just popped it on the center flat spot on the bottom of the hydro. Let it heat for...

Kurt, WOW! Thank you for all of the images and the great write-up. That is an ambitious, well planned build with stunning results! Thanks for sharing the details; well done. Mike

I didn't know there were any Elec-Trak people here but I thought someone with a diesel might disagree with the garden tractor definition.

Brad, I've always used a standard lawn and garden battery in my 1250. They were always $19.99 but it seems like the last one might have cost more. A 2 or 3 year lifespan has always been pretty typical for mine. I never looked at trying to get a different/bigger battery under the seat.

Yeah, I know... It's 59M, not M59. But you knew what I meant! J. Michael

Marion F, I found springs in a similar condition when I bought an old M59. I located a suitable replacement at Tractor Supply Co. The part number is C-828 from Century Spring Corp, Los Angeles. The packaging describes it as 3/4" x 3 1/2" x 0.135" utility compression spring. The spring...

The stock front rubber on Cub Cadets is generally pretty kind to turf but a pretty vague when pushing snow. I was trying to execute a turn while backing away from a snow pile, I noticed the steering was even more ineffective than usual. I turned my head to look forward as I eased the control...

Wow! Thanks Digger - They must have kept on "improving" them because the mounting brackets look a bit different on all of those. Mike

Digger, Do you have any more photos of the Sweepster on the QL? I have a Sweepster that looks more like the one in Roland's brochure [with the plastic brush cover and plastic chain guard] for my 1250. Mine is in rough shape and needs a couple of things to be useful. There is no lift...

Norm, I believe www.cadplans.com has a couple different plans for logsplitters. Not sure if you'd need them; the mechanism itself is fairly straightforward. The real issue will be powering the ram. It wouldn't be too difficult to set up a hydraulic pump run off the PTO. It would be easier...
