I was looking at a 1782 that has a trashed front end. The owner bumped into his porch at lower speed. Would the side panels off a tractor like a 1641 fit? Obviously a hole would have to be cut for the exhaust. What about the hood and grille?
Or are they different font end dimensions from a...
This would likely not be a quick flip but rather a long term keeper to do some mowing and work. Due to that, price is somewhat less of an issue. I love taking something that looks and works terrible and make it look pretty good and function even better. I have done some cars, golf carts...
Yeah I am not sure, he is a nice guy to talk to. My wife is continuing to push for something new, I knew I married the right CFO.
Her argument is if you get 1/3 the cost of a new one tied up in something 25 plus years old did you actually win. My answer is if it lasts a long time and works...
Oops I typed all that up and missed that part.
Its listed at 2900, I think he would take 2500 though. I am not certain, I have not haggled much because I dont know where is fair for both honestly.
It has also been for sale for going on 4 months. I think that speaks a good bit about the value...
I dont want to give out too much information because I want to be fair to the seller. On a tractor like below, I dont even know what a fair offer is.
The mower has not been run for several years, and both have sat outside for just as many years or more. I would love to take an ugly duckling...
I know it's a seller's market, but these tractors that look like they sat behind the wood shed for 20 years just seem over priced. There are a couple examples for 2500-3500 that I would be embarrassed to drive around the yard. I am all for restoring one for use. But, when you can see 500-1000...
I am going to go look at one or both of the 1782's in the next week. Is there anything in particular I should look for? Anything that would cause a definite do not buy vs a try to talk the price down because it can be fixed but will be expensive?
It looks like there is one in Greencastle, PA. It appears to have been repainted with questionable attention to detail. It also has the mule but they do not list the mower deck. I am assuming finding one of those would be challenging at best and extremely frustrating at worst.
It also looks...
Thanks for this great breakdown on the details of both units.
I have not had a chance to contact them again unfortunately, hopefully before the end of the week I will. Both units have been for sale for several weeks or months even. That sort of gives me pause on both of them. Are others...
