Great story! My grandfather had an 8N and many years later my father bought a 600 - still in use today. Tough little tractors.

Great Story. Thanks for sharing. Best comprehensive story on the subject I have seen.

Here in South Africa, my late father bought one of the first Fergusons in the region where we farmed at the time. Quite an upgrade from the two Farmall F30's and M he used at the time (late forties, early fifties). The Ferguson's three point hitch was just what the doctor ordered when he ventured into ground nuts (known as Monkey Nuts at the time), fitting a blade that would cut the plants' roots, which then could be pulled by hand and stacked to dry, before threshing.
