Maybe someone with more knowledge of the models and years involved - will answer your question. I have a 1992 1440 with Briggs V-twin and it has been called the Cyclops. It is a wide frame unit and I just have it for snow removal - no mowing, etc. I have been told this was first year of the cyclops.... however I do not know truthfully. Good luck

I have a feeling, that with the failure prone materials for front end, there will be a huge sidelining of most of these cyclops. Tractor is good --- just a big issue on the plastic maintenance. IMHO

Fortunately, with some effort and modification, the 82 series metal nose/hood/side panels do fit. The frames are almost identical between the 82 series and Cyclops.

I'm setting up to deal with the plastic front ends (just my own stuff) but am planning to make a mold off the plastic panel and layer fiberglass into it. Too many projects going right now. But am wanting to get the mold made by covering the panel with plastic wrap and using expanding foam to make the mold. Not sure if it would be possible to use the mold more than once or not. I have accumulated most of what I need. Resin has gone stupid expensive, from what it used to be.

I think mower prices are way down on junk, My neighbor just bought a Craftsman for $100 and its nice shape and working. guy tried selling it for a month and just kept lowering the price. Even tho same mower in stores have gone up 400 -500 $
