Well I'm not going to beat this horse anymore. Now that I am reasonably sure that there must be another number there, I will go with the years I have assigned to them. If I told you that one was serial 4377 and the other 2566 what would you have answered then? It would have been what Marty...

Kraig, collar and roll pin are used on the 4377. The 2566? has the bolt and washer. Since my numbered series tractors all have the bolt and washer, it should be a safe bet it is the newer of the 2 designs. This difference is what my original question was about. Thanks for the photos and...

OK one more time. It isn't that I don't want to give you the numbers, I will. But the question is about physical differences in the 3 years the Originals were made. One is clearly stamped 4377. The other one is stamped 2566. Or 25661. That unknown number if that mark is a number, throws...

Charlie, I won't disagree with you. If you say you are stupid, then you are entitled to your opinion. Of course I know the serial numbers tell the age. But one casting may or may not have another number. It is difficult to tell. So there must be someone who knows the physical difference from...

Charlie, the numbers stamped in the rear end housing. Supposedly the serial number of the unit.

I am trying to get a clear answer on the age of my two Originals. One of them may have another number after the clearly marked 4 before it but I am not sure. So the differences between the 2 are: One has a clearly marked 4 digit number and no creeper lever hole and no steering adjustment...

Well I'm no engineer but the full 3-1/2" spindle is inside the 1" od stub shaft. There is nothing in my future that would shear these off.

Kraig, It doesn't measure up to machinist quality but function over fashion works here. Next set I do will have less off set from the axle. It takes a while to set up on my lathe so I wasn't going to cut and drill again. And it makes no difference except for looks.

Recently I asked about an axle set up that was an improvement to the factory design. After a little time staring at my last attempt I came up with another brainstorm. I drilled 3/4" holes in stub axles deep enough to accept the factory spindle. Now I will weld it and assemble the axle...

Wyatt, detailed drawings of the spindles help as that seems to be a weak point in the design I made years ago. Thanks to you and Kraig. Charlie, I haven't been able to follow the forum for some time and forgot how thorough you are. Thanks for taking the time to help. On to another...

Well I thought the "I have front wheels with tapered bearings" would have been the hint that I was asking about the axle steering upgrade. The #18 upgrade is what I am asking about. It shows a floppy disc ,maybe loaded with instructions, and steering parts. But the spindles and attaching parts...

Ok, I read the FAQs and I think I am ready to ask appropriate questions. I read the steering upgrade Ken Updike did for narrow frame tractors. Is there a parts break down so I can get what I need and reuse what I have? I have front wheels with tapered bearings now and don't need to duplicate...
