John G.- This is what I usually do: sandblast or use wire wheel in angle grinder to remove rust; weld up cracks or holes which I find; reinforce areas by lift brackets as needed (see pic); check bearings; use rust restore on heavily rusted areas; apply truck bed liner. (It's OK to use a good...

You're fast, Charlie. Usually I just lurk but today I gambled and posted. (Bed liner on a rusty WORKING deck.) (Message edited by dschmidt on March 17, 2006)

David C.- JB Weld, body filler, fiberglass resin, bed liner, etc. I think we've tried most of them. A key is proper prep. work so whatever you use sticks. If there are no holes, I like to clean up and then use something which prevents further rusting. This, of course, is on a working deck. IMHO...

Charlie, I'm disappointed with the small amount of snow. Just heavy and wet here. The weather people build us up with forecasts of 8-10" and we get 3-4. 782 made quick work of this little area.

Joe Z.- I have a QA36A on my 108 and really like it. Lots of power and it does a fine job. Keep the belt tight and crank the rpm's up. They are not that tough to find. Charlie probably has a shed full.

Since Richard asked about replacement engines in a QL, has anyone put a Kohler Command 18 twin or B&S Vanguard 16 twin in a xx50?

Roland. Thanks. Sure, if you could post one w the Mag 18 it might help others as well.

    Wiring Mag 18 into 782

Thanks Roland. Also, on the diagram you posted, is the wiring harness color coded and attached to the terminal letters as shown? (i.e red to "S" and blue to "L") I'm assuming yes. (sorry, I don't have the 782 available for inspection) I apologize for even starting this thread but I did find...

    Wiring Mag 18 into 782

What the hey! My 782 has a key switch which has only 3 postions as opposed the one you pictured, Roland, which shows 4. My key has 1 off, 2 lights and ignition, and 3 start. I assume the PO put in an incorrect switch? Thanks for the headsup on the fuses as well. Dave (Message edited by...

    Oh boy, oh boy

Congrats Tedd. Sorry I never saw your post until now. They sure look cute don't they? Most babies look like Winston Churchill without the cigar and the vices.

My "duh." Lights on the newer CCC version 782's always have the lights on when the key is on, according to my local IH dealer/guru. It's a safety feature? To turn them off there are two choices: remove the fuse (like I used to do) or wire in a switch dedicated to the lights. He also shared the...

    New grandson

My oldest son and his wife had a baby boy tonight. Micah arrived about 5:50 p.m. He joins his 3 yr. old brother Noah whose third birthday is tomorrow, the 27th. My dad, who died October 18, lives on in this new great-grandson. Such is the way of the world. Have a cigar!

    Wiring Mag 18 into 782

Thanks Charlie. Roland, I will try to do that when it warms up a bit. In the meantime, could someone post a schematic of the wiring diagram in a 782 w the reg. KT17? Perhaps that would help me locate the error. Thanks.

    Wiring Mag 18 into 782

About two years ago we put a new Kohler Mag 18 into a red CCC 782 after the Series 1 had problems. Everything seems to work fine (starting, charging) except the lights go on when the key is turned on and won't go off unless the fuse is removed even though the light switch is turned off. I...
