    K161 block beyond repair

    Hi guys, I bought a basket case Original 61’. To my chagrin when pulled down it had already been bored .30. Who ever did the work looks to have broken a ring on install. Deep scores lead me to believe this block is toast. Ideas for a replacement are welcome. Seems 181’s are plentiful?

    Yep, that’s what a previous owner tried to do with a MIG welder. I’ll clean it up and TIG weld it up nice.

    Paint for a Original restoration.

    Please do correct my thinking. I’m not a painter by trade and do not possess the gear to spray modern auto paints without killing myself. What would you use?

    Really nothing but a pile of parts to photograph at this point. After a once over, I’ll need to repair the upper rear frame mounts which were cracked and shoddily repaired. I assume that is a weak point on these early models? Thanks for the welcome!
