The shaft does spin a full 360. I'm taking it down rn. Is it something that can be reassembled or will I have to replace that tab assembly?

    K161 Governor Assembly

I was wondering if anyone could post some up-close pics of their governor/throttle cable assembly. I suspect that the governor in my 71 hasn't been assembled properly in years, as it was missing parts when I got ahold of it. The Kholer manual illustrations haven't been much help either... One...

Sidney, I run my 1200 on 30w oil down in Texas to keep it from smoking- mine will burn lighter-weight oil if its over 90 degrees outside, but then again that's the only weather I seem to mow in. Now that I think about it, the coldest I've ever ran my cubs was during a Christmas parade at a...

That Cub looks awesome, Marty! Timing question just in case it was missed from the new page- After spending a couple of hours using the Static Timing method trying to get my 71 running, I've decided that I'm doing something wrong. Even at the extremes of point adjustment, (with a new...

Timing question- After spending a couple of hours using the Static Timing method trying to get my 71 running, I've decided that I'm doing something wrong. Even at the extremes of point adjustment, (with a new points rod), I am still about 1/3 of a turn away from the S/F and D/C marks on the...

Sweet pics of the brochures, Kraig! Now, the real question is how I can get fairway-quality cuts outta my cubs, too... Serious Tech question- Is the new length of a K161 points plunger anywhere, or does anyone know it? I can't find that spec in my manuals and I bet that its the reason why I...

I got spark! Now I kinda feel silly, after studying matt's instructions I noticed that I had the points wire hooked up to the adjustment screw instead of where it was supposed to be, therefore completely bypassing the points. odd thing is that that was where it was hooked up when I got the...

Okay, now I want to check that I'm doing things correctly. Where are the best places to check the coil voltage, the terminal and? Also, where can I find Matt g's static timing method? Couldn't find it with a search...

Jim- the spark occurs when the key is turned off. Ken- Tomorrow I'll do the timing, and check the points electrically. Thanks for all the ideas so far! I'll keep yall updated, this site is a great resource as always!
