    Desperately need help with 1810 PTO issues!

    Yes, I set it up with .017" air gap as recommended. My understanding of how this works is that this measurement would only affect the moving parts anyhow. The field coil doesn't physically come in contact with any other part. The adjustment should have no effect on the electrical parts.

    I need help guys. My electric PTO clutch smoked itself. (The field coil burned up) I replaced the entire clutch assy. and again within about 2 minutes, the field coil went up in flames again. The PTO was engaged and working. Melted down , burnt up, released magic smoke. Does anyone have any idea...

    Thanks Myron, When I'm mowing and go over rough terrain such at a tree root or other bump the PTO will disengage. Sometimes when I change speed suddenly this happens also. It will always restart. I'm wondering if the relay could be weak. Any information or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
