Don, thats the problem I thought I was having turned out to be the filter on the top of the fuel shutoff valve inside the tank was partly plugged up. got it cleaned up and will be putting it back together in about another hour. Hi all haven't been on here in a while, been working too much. I am having a small problem with my 12hp it runs fine for a little then starts to sputter then it will seem to recover then it dies, it does this two or three times then it refuses to start again for awhile. it acts to me as if it is...- nmercer

Tom Just came back inside it is too darn cold outside right now and the wind is blowing about 35 mph, but I did figure out what my problem is with my tractor, the electric PTO switch is going bad so I just ordered a new one from CC specialties. should be here by wed. I'll get all the bugs...- nmercer

I have a question for anyone here, I cannot seem to locate anything about this in my books so I will have to throw this out and see if anybody knows. how do you advance or retard the timing on a 12hp kohler? I assume that it has to do with the points but do I set them to open sooner or later...- nmercer

Does anyone here happen to know what size the hole is in the main jet on a 12 hp kohler I cant find anything about it in my books. Also for those who may be interested, I know some were asking about them, I just installed one of Kirks Pointsaver modules and it works great my little tractor...- nmercer

Hello Finally figured out again how to post on this thing again, well got my little tractor going again. smoking a bit but that should clear up once its been run awhile. problem turned out to be several small things mostly bad elec connections and ground wire. Well I have officially had it with this thing, I have exhausted my bag of tricks, tried a new ignition switch, that did no good. even went so far as to take the switch out of my good runner and tried it (it uses the same type switch) still no go. tried a hotlead straight to the coil for a few...- nmercer

Well back on line again, it is dang cold here this morning. Harry, That is correct I followed the static timing procedure and had no luck still will not start and stay running. It is getting fuel as I pulled the plug after several attempts to start it failed and the plug was wet (not fouled)...- nmercer

Tom, It has plenty of fuel and it is not flooding out although the fuel valve on the bottom of the tank is leaking but that has nothing to do with the problem. I physically checked by loosening the float bowl screw and got a steady flow of fuel so I know that is not the problem. I am currently...- nmercer
