Jerry G, Have you checked that the points didn't come loose and timing is now off? I forgot to tighten them once after adjusting and after a week or so, problems started.

Richard, I had one doing the same thing. After playing with carb and timing with no improvement, I swapped out the condensor out of desperation. Problem solved.

Bill J. The more power you're using to crank the motor over, the less you have available to fire the spark plug. Also, it has been my experience that keeping fresh gas in the tank helps with cold starts. Happy thanksgiving everyone

Didn't they make a change to the 782 wiring over the years? I'm not sure, and not at home to check, but I seem to remember they changed the way the safety switches worked at a certain serial #. Mine will not start if you don't press the brake in, but will run with no one on the seat until you...

Steve, Had the same issue with the 12 hp in my loader. I drilled and tapped the holes to the next size, but I used fine thread. Sorry, I don't remember the size. I also used loctite quick metal to fill up the clearance between the shaft and hub as it wobbled enough to get too loose on...

Brian, When ever you are having electrical problems, it's a good idea to start by Checking all ground connections and fuses. After that, check to see if you are getting power to the small wire on the solenoid when trying to start. If you are, problem is in solenoid. If not, move on to...

Glen, I would start with the condensor. It worked for me on a 124 that wouldn't harly run over idle.

Don T, Didn't know you had the points saver. I've been wanting to try one out on my 125 loader. I don't know much about them, but have read they are high quality and reliable. It's possible there is a problem there, but doubtful. As another member pointed out, black smoke is usually a...

Don T, Had one that had a stumble on acceleration like you describe. After working on fuel/ carb issues with no success. I changed the condensor - problem solved. I think a bad or failing condensor can cause a variety of issues based on my experience. Maybe worth a shot?

Dominic, I know you said you had 12 volts to the coil. Just make sure you have it when the starter is cranking. You could have a bad ignition switch.
