Thanks to everyone who provided input re. replacing the crankcase seal on my 107. I got it back together Saturday morning and it was a good feeling mowing again. This tractor has become a real friend and I missed it. And once again, I have a renewed appreciation for these little tractors...

Sounds good Kyle. I have no idea how the last guy installed the seal. I hope it's a tight fit so I won't need to revisit this again soon. Thanks again.

Anthony Owsley: Thanks for the feedback. The engine was rebuilt some time before I got it - and I've had it now about 5 years. It uses/loses almost no oil at all. (How can I check the breather reed valve?) I have the replacement seal and will install it tomorrow and button everything back...

Thanks Dennis. That sounds fine to me. Appreciate it. The old seal must have started moving somehow - which caused it to work its way loose.

Thanks Charlie. I did not read your reply until just now. What I ended up doing was putting a long narrow pipe through the puller - and against the frame - and pulled it off. Having now taken this all apart, I see how it all goes now.

Hey fella's I need a hand. I'm trying to remove the front PTO clutch from my 107 so I can replace the crankshaft oil seal. I've removed the 6 set screws but it is not coming off. Can I use a puller and pull against the "button"? I was afraid to try this without checking first. Any...

After finishing mowing this weekend and on the way back to the barn, my 107 started spewing white oil smoke from the front. I shut it right down and determined that (I think) the front crank seal came loose - causing oil to escape and be sprayed onto the hot exhaust. Here is a photo of...

Yes I have that Kraig. Thanks. It is for wide-frame models. I did print it in case they are similar however.

Thanks Kraig. I went to cubfaq.com but that site is incomplete and I see nothing referring to steering boxes there.

FAQ entry #16 is "What are the Kohler Engine Torque Specifications" (??)

I did check the FAQ file, but there is nothing listed for a narrow-frame steering box...?
