I have a cub cadet 128 with a Kohler K301 engine.It was running fine and suddenly started to "hiss".It still runs well and has full power but has this loud hissing or scraping sound. Any ideas of where to look ?

Last evening I pulled the head and sure enough there was plenty of carbon buildup everywhere.I scraped and wire brushed it all off the head and the valves and seats.I didn't have a new head gasket but the original one was in good shape.I cleaned it up too and put it all back together.It ran fine...
