Here's where it's going - rebuild / repaint of the rest of the tractor will have to wait until it warms up in the Spring!

Well, I finally got a chance to get a couple photos of my K161s rebuild. I'm ready to put it back on the tractor tomorrow morning and see if I can get it running. This first pic is for Kraig - thanks for the help with the governor!

Since I got so much good help with my governor re-assembly, I thought I'd post a couple of pics of the (nearly) completed K161s.

Keith - perfect, and almost the way I had it done - I just need to rotate my disc 180 degrees and move the drive pin a bit and it looks just like your photos. Thanks again for the help - I'll try to post a few photos this weekend after I get it done.

The close-ups photos are great - extremely helpful and just what I needed! One quick follow-up - it looks like the u-shaped end of the governor spring wraps around the screw on the governor lever/arm. I can't tell where the straight end of the spring goes - does it just hang in the breeze?

I'm looking for a little help with re-installing the governor assembly on a K161 I just finished rebuilding and painting. I'm trying to figure out the exact details of how the governor spring, speed control disc, drive pin, throttle bracket, and governor lever/arm interface with each other...

Thanks for the advice to a newbie here! One other quick question. I'm going to need someone to lap the valves and install new rings in the K161. I'm in Northern Virginia - can anyone recommend a good small engine shop in this general area? Thanks again.

Hi, I'm new to the forum and just getting started on a restoration of a 1963 Original that belonged to my grandfather. I'm in the process of carefully disassembling the engine, but can't get the exhaust pipe/elbow/muffler to budge. Can anyone give me some advice on how to lossen it up for...
