I tried turning the adjusting nut a few turns but that didn't help. If I press the clutch pedal, put it in gear, and then start it, it works ok.

Thanks Gary. I did read the manual and it explains clutch adjustment on page 51. Have you ever adjusted the clutch using the nut? I want to try this first before going any further. I did grind into gear once, and after that it appears that it's working because I could change gears without...

I'm back! Still working on my 102. My clutch pedal does not engage the clutch enough to get it in gear without grinding. Can this be adjusted by screwing the adjusting nut in? Or, do I have a more serious problem?

Mine screws all the way out and stops. Do you think it will unscrew further once I loosen the nut? I don't want to force it and strip it out. I'll let you know how it works out. Can't work on it until Thursday. Thanks again!

I'll have to empty the gas tank as well. There is no shutoff at the tank.

Yes, the packing nut is there. Now dumb question, does the valve come out when I unscrew the nut? With the valve all the way open, it is tight and doesn't leak. When I turn it in to close it, it is very loose. Do I have to unscrew the valve to get it out or does it just pull out when I...

I do not recall seeing one, but I will check. Tractor is at a different location than my home. Thanks!

This is the valve at the sett. bowl.

I now have a gas leak at the shut off valve. With the valve all the way open, it doesn't leak, but with it closed, it drips. Can this valve be replaced or repaired?

I did what was suggested, put some sealant on the threads and tightened. Added gas, no leaks, fired up with very little smoke. I was very surprised and happy. This 102 hadn't been fired for over 30 years. I'm still working on it. I now notice the bolt is broke off that holds the generator...

Do you know how far the bolt screws into the tank?

I decided not to go with a new Jap carb and got the original cooked out and a carb kit installed. This was done at the Cub dealer and was quite expensive verses going with an after market carb. So I'm now ready to try to start it once I get the tank hooked up. I've been looking forward to...

I finally got my fuel tank back from the radiator shop. It was so bad they had to take it apart to get it clean. They replaced the bolt that screws into the tank and connects to the fuel bowl. How far does this bolt screw into the tank? I didn't see any seals when I took the tank off. Just...

How does the plastic cap on the steering wheel come off? I want to avoid damaging it if possible. I guess I'm going to have to buy a 102 repair manual. I see manuals called "service" manuals, are they one in the same? Where is a good place to buy the repair manual?

New topic for my 102...My steering wheel turns 1/4 of a turn before any of the linkage moves. What could be my problem? The steering wheel is also popped up out of the dash about an inch or so.

I'm a rookie at this. I know nothing about rebuilding a carb. Original carb is really gummed up. It has sat for 30+ years. Local Cub dealer wants $100 to rebuild it. I just replaced the key switch and I now have power to starter. With carb off, I got it to fire by using starting fluid...

I've found aftermarket carb's on ebay that say they fit my K241AS engine. Anyone have experience with using them. My original is in bad shape.

Should I use anti-seize on the threads?

When reassembling the head, is it important to put the bolts back in the same holes? I was planning on making a template of the head gasket to organize the bolts until I reassemble.

What should I use to loosen the carbon deposits?
