Mark Gerecke- Thanks for the line up on the baffle repair- it sounds like a good procedure to me! If im lucky, maybe I can get some grass to shoot out of the side discharge chute when i'm finished!

I dont post much, but what an awesome site this is... Spring blade sharpening time has arrived! I got a bit of a surprise when I checked underneath my 44A deck this year, however. The baffles for the blades is missing entirely! Not a trace...My parents use this machine, and have no knowledge of...

Craig Ellis: Try going to "howstuffworks.com" and typing in the words christmas lights. Those strings are just a simple series/parallel combination, and all it takes is 1 loose bulb. BTW, the loose bulb will ALWAYS be the LAST one in the string that you check!

Bob- re-check the plug at .035" and the point gap at .020". Make sure that the feeler gauge isnt spreading the points to .020" when you check them, and clean them with contact cleaner when you are done. If/When it stalls again, check the resistance of your coil as per previous post. I wouldnt...

Bob Mavian: I just went through a similar issue with my recently rebuilt 1250. It would lose power after 15-20 minutes of running. Replaced the coil and condensor, both likely causes. Check your coil resistance when it is hot before you waste your money- a recent post shows approx 4,000 ohms...

Charlie- That was quite a deal you got an the LP and accessories. I wonder how many hours that 147 has on it? I have heard that some LP engines have much greater longevity due to the cleaner combustion and the cylinder walls having never been washed down with gasoline. Have fun...

Matt- My K301 also has a hole there. I am guessing that it it supposed to be present.

Thanks for the reply, David. I think I am going to try and check compression when it is hot, just to see if that is really what is happening. The engine has never burned a drop of oil since the rebuild, so I just assumed that piston blow-by wasnt a factor. Checking compression on a kohler with...

I am experiencing a problem with my recently rebuilt K301 engine in my 1250. After about 20 minutes of troublefree mowing, the motor begins to lose power. I run MMO, so hopefully it is not the exhaust valve sticking. I had to bore the engine .100 over stock and use a 14 horse piston due to the...

In Reply to Kraig regarding the Simplicity 9024. I cant imagine that you would want to sell it. I used 2 extensively on a farm years ago when I was working my way through school. Hands down the finest mowing tractor I have ever used. I found them especially excellent on SEVERE hillsides- those...
