I am looking for a hydrostatic drive tractor with a front blade for this winter. It doesn't have to be pretty but should be a good runner. I am laid up temporarily, and using a clutch is kind of a problem right now. I need it to be within a reasonable drive (couple hours or less) from central...

This is what I found loooking for a picture of a Cub belt pully attachment - looks a LOT like yours.

Frank, that's a belt pulley attachment but I can't tell you what tractor it would fit. It looks like it might have been red at one time which would indicate IH or Ford. The Cub and the A-B-C Farmalls used one, and the Ford N series used one.

Clark, if you are in a hurry, get a big gear puller and a bearing separator. Put the acorn nut back on the shaft and tighten it almost to the hub on the steering wheel, otherwise you'll ruin the end of the shaft. Leave a sixteenth of an inch or a little more thread showing. All you need to do...

For what it's worth, we got two inches of hail this morning at 3 a.m. That was not nice at all since we had thunder and lightning with it. One of our cats is afraid of loud noises. He went down and hid behind the washing machine until 7:30.

March comes in and goes out like.... Chevy Chase: Last week we made the comment that March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. Now here to reply is our chief meteorologist, John Belushi, with a seasonal report. John Belushi: Thank you Chevy. Well, another winter is almost over...

Wayne, your voltage regulator needs replaced. It is supposed to taper off the charge as soon as the battery is recharged from starting the engine. Excess charging current boils off the battery acid, resulting in corrosion, rust, and paint discoloration and removal.

Tom, the Kohler charging routine is the same regardless of tractor manufacturer. At 3600 rpm, you should have more than 28 volts AC across the two outside lugs on the voltage regulator. If not, the stator is bad or a wire is broken under the flywheel. At 3600 rpm, if you have the 28+ volts AC...

David, quite a few K241's were made from K301 castings. That gave them a thicker cylinder wall. To make one into a 12 hp you'd bore it out and use a K301 crank, rod, piston, and rings. There are some interesting in-between combinations as well. Brian Miller's website has some information...

Chad Mize, those look like implements for the older Sears Suburban three point system. It was about a three-quarter size Category 0 setup. You could weld up a sleeve hitch adaptor for them, or maybe even use them with your CC three-point hitch with some finagling.

Rod, come spring I will get over there to talk Cubs and I'd like to drive one of yours a bit. I would like to get a 1250 or 1450 but I'd like hydraulic lift. Still need to sell one off topic tractor first. Thanks!

Rod, I don't have much trouble with my hands and feet but the secret is to keep your hands and feet dry and keep blood circulating. You need some room in your boots and your gloves for a couple clothing layers or so between your skin and the inside of your boots and gloves. You've got to keep...

Matt, If you are going to take some material off the top of the axle at the spindle, take enough to use a needle thrust bearing sandwiched between two thin .020 stainless steel washers, and the sandwich between the plate on the spindle and the bottom of the axle. I did that to an um...

I had rain but I am just a tad north and east of the hardest rain. I already leveled and smoothed the gravel drive with the sleeve hitch back blade.

Howdy from the center of the state! I never knew there were so many Cub guys in MO. I am (still) looking for my first Cub - I have some of those other tractors now.
