Mike, If you have another cub that runs good, try switching the coils and see if that solves your problem. Checking them with an ohm meter really won't tell you if they're good or bad under load. Marshall

Is there a faq somewhere that explains the 1/9 type identification system for the cubs? Thanks, Marshall

    Inherited Tractor /project

Tim, Whenever I encounter a problem with a cranks over but no start situation I first check the spark (which you have) and bypass the whole carburetor issue by using a squirt bottle with a little gas in it. I don't bother with the choke either. Leave it open. Just squirt some gas down its...

Ken, Thanks for the response. Anything is possible as I just noticed the difference yesterday between the quick hitch and the old type. I'm not to up on the finer points of the cubs. Thanks, Marshall

I'm putting a 50" mower deck on a 1650. When everything is in place the mule rubs on the mower deck pulley and the belt also rubs on the mule. It's the left hand side that rubs. Any ideas? Marshall

    Alumiweld

I always wanted to try that stuff but having heliarc never bothered with it. If I were you I think I'd stick with the pop rivets. Marshall

John, We can work kinda backwards with your starting problem. Get a pair of jumper cables and a good battery. Hook the ground to the neg. battery terminal and to the S/G bracket. Hook the red lead to the battery pos. terminal. Touch the other end of the red lead to the Armature terminal on...

A couple months ago I bought a 129 on Ebay. It was the first one that actually ran when I bought it. It came with a mower deck but there was no PTO on the engine. No problemo....I thought. When I put the PTO on the crank there was about half an inch between the drive basket and the fingers...

I 've got a problem with the auto release valves in a 1650. It went forward but no reverse. I took the valves out to inspect them and when I put them back in I switched them. Now I've got reverse and no forward. It's obviously one of the valves but I didn't see any difference between them...

Thanks for the responses concerning the 129 crankshaft. Looks like it's nodular iron. Before I do anything I'm going to talk to a very knowledgeable welder. If he says no go it's going to be step key time. The s/g pulley hub was also worn both egg shaped and also the keyway rolled over. I...

The crankshaft keyway on a 129 is badly worn where the s/g pulley rides. I would like to tig the worn keyway and recut it. Does anyone know what the cranks are made of? Thanks, njmj

I have the opportunity to pickup a 129. Most of the attachments I have (mower deck and snow plow) fit the earlier narrow frame machines. I was going to ask if these will fit the wide frame 129 but then realized why would a little thing like that stop me from getting another cub. However if...

    New and Confused

Tony, I could use a few more pictures going around the tractor but from the one picture it looks like an Agway GT16/44 I have with hydro trans, circa '84. The one I have is made by MTD. I hope we're not exiled for this. It's a bigger crime having the "M" word on a IH topic than having a IH...

    Model numbers

Thank you for the replies. It really does clarify things as I have one of the previously mentioned models but it definitely is not on par with the older cubs. Thanks again, Marshall

    Model numbers

On the home page there is a listing of the models made by IH. In one of the columns it lists model 1000. Does this mean that any number in that model line is also made by IH. For example, models 1015 and 1020. I'm trying to figure the model numbering system out but it's very confusing...
