Has anyone had success putting metal fans on the hydros, instead of the plastic type? I know the older models use to have them. I am betting Grainger or other places have them that will work with a 5/8" shaft. The plastic just don't seem to last very long...

Hey guys, I have too much slop in my linkage, specifically where the connecting link (u-shape) connects in the holes which have become wallered-out over time. I see in the FAQ: http://cubfaq.com/hydroslopfix.html that some later cubs came with the connecting linkage with ball-joints. I am...

I solved the mystery of the no pressure in my 149 hydro. After taking it the pump apart about 4 times, I found the culprit. It appears when the rotor and pin assembly broke apart, a small piece of the pin about a 1/4 inch long was sitting in the assembly blocking fluid from flowing. Not sure why...

I marked the pump before I removed it, and it was easy to tell which way it went back on since the yellow paint was brighter on the bottom. I also installed a new filter just to be sure. Going to look at the suction tube underneath next. Nothing is leaking. Could it be plugged? The HyTran...

Hey guys, Some of you may recall a few weeks my 149 lost pressure in the hydro unit. After trouble-shooting I found the rotor-pin assembly had broke apart in the pump assembly. I finally got around to replacing the pin and rotor, and put the pump back together, as well as installed a...

Ok guys, found the problem on my 149 hyrdo with no pressure. Took apart the pump assembly. The pump rotor specifically the pin assembly was cracked in multiple locations. Only thing I can think of to cause it, was about 4 months before I left for Iraq in 2005, I replaced a spirol pin, and the...

Kraig, the driveshaft is spinning correctly & I have checked the back output shaft while the engine is running all all appears to be OK. will try to take some pics. If it is the pump, how difficult is it to pull out, rebuild?

I took all the suggestions. Thanks everyone. I checked the relief/check valves. Everything appears to be in compliance with my faulty 149 hydro. I have not put a gauge on, but I am pretty sure there is no pressure. If the charge pump is not working, do I pull it out? Should I look for another...

Ken, I checked the shaft and it is spinning at the rear of the pump, so I know it is not broke in the housing. The fluid level is good, checked it multiple times to be sure. How do I check the pop-up valve?

Charlie, took your advice and got the check valve to function. Hydro still not working. Going to re-consult the service manual. The filter was replaced in JAN or FEB. Should I put a new one on?

Still troubleshooting the hydro on my 149. No pin has been sheared, and everything is turning properly with no slippage. No linkage problem. One check valve will not return after deppressed. Should I take it out? I assume if defective this a replaceable item? thanks for all the suggestions...

Ryan W. The driveshaft is spinning as well as the hydro, so it appears to be something else.

Hey everyone, relatively new to the forum, been reading as to learn more. I have 149. I was pushing around some stone today with the blade, and the tractor just stopped moving as well as no lift function. Basically a hydro problem. The shaft is spinning as well as the hydro. I have...

Hi everyone. This is my first post. Been reading for a while. Trying to find out if a IH Snowthrower Model CC-36 will work on either a 149 or 1650? I checked out the FAQ, and it appears this model was designed for a NF? Is this correct? thanks.
