Welcome dude! Good luck on repairing a busted tranny. Probably best like was said previously to find a decent used unit. Transmission repair is its own special kind of monster even for experienced mechanics, but simply bolting in a new (used) unit shouldn't be much more trouble than the time...

Tractor For Sale Spirit of 76

Lol, yeah, and while I'm dreaming, I'd like a pony too! But you gotta jump on deals when you find them. I've had an International Harvester 1954 refrigerator for over 20 years now that's had a jacked up door handle, and two months ago someone posted a NOS, in the box, correct door handle for it...

Was there something special about the original So76 seats? Damn that's cool. I'd be all over it if I were closer.

Does my 42" mower deck need a tensioner pulley?

So good news. I talked to the guy who sold my mower deck to me, asking if maybe he had forgot to reinstall the tensioner after his "restoration", and maybe it was laying around somewhere. It wasn't but he robbed the one off his 48"deck and mailed that to me. Looks like it should work.🤩

Does my 42" mower deck need a tensioner pulley?

Inre the belts, that blue aramid is holding up pretty nicely (I say after only two mows), but it ate the heck out of the rubber PIX drive belt after only one mow. I had a spare 84" drive belt of the same blue aramid cord as the deck belt and swapped that on. I fiddled quite a bit getting the...

Does my 42" mower deck need a tensioner pulley?

I checked Parts Tree and wasn't impressed in the price department, but the Parts diagrams were very good.

So a friend sent me a text..

Looking at that rats nest of wiring, just be glad they didn't do what IH did with their mid-70's trucks. Every wire is GREEN, with a printed number on either end to ID the circuit. That printing wears off if you rub the dirt off it too hard so you can read it. Because nothing under a hood...

    Anyone else have this problem?

Matt on the Diesel Creek YouTube channel has rebuilt several small engine carbs on his show, I'm sure he's done a Cub Cadet, because he collects them along with all sorts of other old construction equipment. He's got a line of about 15 Cubs sitting around that you catch a glimpse of...

Does my 42" mower deck need a tensioner pulley?

Got that right. But it got my little 104 going and mowing for the season. I'll get the OE parts eventually, just waiting for someone to offer them for a total of less than $50 off eBay. Or the parts wanted page here.

Does my 42" mower deck need a tensioner pulley?

Ok, so right on the spring being pretty weak. Got it all put together, and managed a successful mow of my lawn. It did the job, but the arm bounces around pretty wildly. I did a few modifications after the test run (it probably didn't help matters that the grass was super tall). If it doesn't...

Does my 42" mower deck need a tensioner pulley?

So I know it's not OE, but this was what I salvaged from the pile of junk parts down the street, plus a few purchased nuts, bolts, and a spring. I'm not sure how much tension the stock arm and spring are supposed to impart to that belt, but this is going to go a round or two on my lawn and...
