At risk of being banned from the forum - I have used Mobil Fluid 424 or Rotella Tractor fluid for years, in 2 129's and an IH 2444. Hytran is a great product blended for Case by Viscosity Oil Co., but is very expensive. The only difference I see in comparing spec sheets is Hytran uses calcium...

I'm rebuilding the driveline on a 129. Cant find a spec for torque on the bolts that attach the flex coupling to the driveshaft. I've seen them so tight the flex coupling gets squashed. Whats a good method to get them tightened right?

Need a front axle, with or without spindles for a 129. Dont ask what happened, I was not drinking! PArt # 759-3270. Axles from many other models fit. Thanks

Hey - Does anybody have a good idea for getting the hydro shift/ speed lever off of a 129? Other than a BFH? The lever splines or shift rod splines are stripped, so the handle moves without transfering any motion to the rod. The set screw is out and it feels like the handle should just pop off...

I've seen some Nelson noise suppresion mufflers, pn 59365C1 on various sites. Has anyone tried to fit one to a 129? Are there any other quieter options for a 129?

Chris - Along with checking for surface flatness, be sure the head bolts are not stretching. After 100's of cold / hot cycles the bolts can become annealed and will not hold the proper torque. Replace the bolts if theyre really old or you continue having problems.

Dennis - I ran Rotella 5w-40 synthetic last winter. It has the right amount of additives for flat tappet cams. Am a little hesitant about it during the summer, so I chickened out with 30. I'm swithing the IH2444 and the old Explorer to Rotella 15w 40 and like the results.

John - I've heard of using motor oil in a standard trans, but not in a hydro. Motor oil does not have the same balance of additives to control wear, foaming, varnish and the small amounts of moisture that develope over time. They also generally dont have as high a viscosity index or handle...

I have good luck with these spirol pins from MCMaster Carr. http://www.mcmaster.com/ #95755A419 Heavy duty steel #95765A539 Stainless steel My problem is the pins start to back out, then they break. A hose clamp solves this problem. This always happens furthest from the shed, but only when...

Ryan - I have used both Shell Donax TD and Mobilfluid 424 for my 129's with no problems. But, Hytran at $9 a gallon isnt a bad price. If the cheaper hydro fluid is not from one of the major oil companies, its best to stay away from it. The fluid may work, but have reliability problems down the...

Hi - I've been using ceramalube paste as a automotive disc brake boundary lube for some time, its great, good to 2600 degrees or something. Other Ceramic products should be good too. Schaeffer makes an oil in 30 weight with some moly in it called Moly Bond, its solids lubricate engines like...

Gremlins would be fun. If I could get hold of a "Gremlin", it could be scaned hi-res and I could supply the file to anyone wanting to print some out on a color ink jet or laser. There is sticker paper available for ink jets that is pretty good. The problem would be fading if it was used in the...

Has anyone used a 12hp Kohler carb on a 14hp Kohler? My 129 now has an almost new K321 with a fixed jet Walbro. It uses about 30% more gas than the old worn out 12hp and doesnt seem to have any more power. The old K301 used about a quart of oil every hour, but kept the bugs away. Anyway, most...

Does anyone know for sure that a Haban Sickle mower Model 402D fits a wide frame? (A 129 in particular) It would be perfect for keeping the ditches cut. Is there any place to get an owners manual?

Thanks Charlie and Kraig - THe QA42 will be running this winter, slip plated and with new shoes. It was 88 here in S.WI yesterday, I suppose that means it'll be 30 below and 90inches of snow this winter!
