Holy Cow! I got my 109 cub running again!
It literally froze last winter! The transmission locked up while I was snow throwing in 14° weather. The engine quickly snapped the drive shaft rod.
Last week I took it to my welder and he reattached it. I serviced the transmission and she ran...
When will teleportation be a thing? You rock digger. I can't say I have a reliable soul to keep things stoked around here. It's either brave the northwest... or stay home. Cheers though mate. I've been digging your input.
Dude,
I've got a fractured rib and my only shed caved in from the weight of the snow... I'm thinking pay to get plowed and then truck it out or build a hoop house over it and start some propane heaters. I have no snow vehicles that can move it. It used to be me and a football sled harness...
EVERYONE!
Thank you for all the great ideas and suggestions. I'm actually excited to start working on the tractor again! I'm still reading and printing posts...
Based on what you guys said... I'm going to start by getting the transmission warm and draining it. This could take a bit...
Thanks digger,
I'll post again once I try that. Pressing those nips in seems like too good to be true...
Seriously though, is there an unadulterated view of all posts? I see the archives at certain dates... do I have to wait till you post a collection before I can review everything...
I have the service and owners mannies... they are helpful, but I need real humans that don't want me to scrap my cub... Solutions peppered with comic relief.
Is there an 'introduction post' section? That was my intention... a little... hey, I'm this guy with an awesome piece of cockroach indestructible piece of equipment that needs some TLC to change the earth.
"The first thing I would do would be to push those to release buttons down on the top of that pump so you could pull it back to the barn, then stick a phillips screw driver in the end of that input shaft and see if it will turn."
There is a pump? I can free up the transmission to push it? WTF...
LOL.
I have no use for the 17-year-old legend of hydro harry...
Cub Cadets are cool right? I'm not crazy to see value in this beat-up machine only a few years older than me...?
"WTH did someone do to the end of that input shaft????
It looks like it's tapered to almost a point!" -digger
It looked perfectly machined...I thought it was made that way... um... I'm guessing my parts list is growing?
Isn't there a specialist out there that wants to sell me a...
I removed the broken cam shaft and the pin that used to connect it to the transmission is gone... maybe it will show up in the spring...?
The fan was OK, like the pics, until I started removing things. It was brittle and cracked apart. I didn't think to take pics of what came off... but I...
