Corey, the early K161 had a 2.875" bore and all the early blocks had steel gov gears. The problem is trying to find replacement parts for the 2.875" bore. If it need rebuilt the best is to bore cylinder for the 2.938" piston. Just did one this summer.
Tony, cut the front cross member out and weld in a good used one, I have done it to a few tractors before. When I get a tractor that has a good axle hole to strip I save the cross member.
Some of the Q/L engines have the dipstick on the right side of the block and use the flexible dipstick and some are located on the right side top of block and use the rigid dipstick.
I have never seen a QL engine with balance gears. I have rebuilt 30+ QL's and never seen one with the studs. Now every wide frame I have seen has them except maybe the 10 HP, I too have never seen a 10 with balance gears.
Is anyone using Real aluminum wheels instead of Douglas? The reason I ask is because of the lug hole size. The Real has 7/16" and the Douglas has 1/2". Also if the Real will work with disc brakes.
Question for you guys using Douglas Aluminum wheels. Do you drill the axles out for 1/2" lugs? I have one tractor I did drill out but it wasn't easy and if I don't have to I wont. Thanks
Luther, the picture is misleading. The teaser spring fits inside the spacer cuped end and the spring goes towards the clutch plate, not the throwout bearing.
