    2086 Info?

Been awhile since I've posted in the forum but I wanted to post an update on my 2086... (Some may recall that I had posted about making rear rear weights) Well I ended up buying some used CC wheel weights for about $60. They are the plastic style filled with concrete and weigh 76 lbs each...

    2086 Info?

Kraig, Thank you very much for scanning and posting the brochure. I really enjoyed reading it.

Can someone tell me more about this??

I paid $400 for a lightly used 451 back in October. I also had to get the adaptor kit to make it fit my SGT (extension plates, bolts, belt) that brought the total price up to about $500.

Nice pics Rob. I have seen several of the Craftsman brackets on Ebay and wondered if they could be adapted. I may have to make a trip to Sears this weekend!

    Simple homebuilt rear weights?

Art: I pretty much agree with your comments (wish my wife had the same view!). I got a good deal on the tractor/mower/snowblower package but I stretched my available funds to get it. I wanted to get the most tractor I could for my money and figured I could fill in the "little" things (like...

    Simple homebuilt rear weights?

Thanks Lonny and Vince. I think I'm going to need at least 100 lbs per rear wheel. Today I removed the mower deck and put on the snowblower. Now the rear is really light (no weight in the milk crate yet). The factory weight bar and suitcase weights are starting to look pretty good dispite...

    Simple homebuilt rear weights?

Thanks for sharing your first hand experience. My driveway is fairly flat, but I have some steeper grades to the shed, kennel, etc that I'd like to be able to clear. Just from running around the yard the past week, I've noticed the rears spin pretty easily when turning up even low grades...

    Simple homebuilt rear weights?

Great idea Kendell. I have seen the metal crates before but don't happen to have one laying around. I'll keep my eyes peeled. Checked your profile pic... nice wood hauler!

    Simple homebuilt rear weights?

I didn't think of that Kraig. Cold plastic with 50-100 lbs of weight in it may not be the best combination I'll keep you posted as I begin to use it this winter.

    Simple homebuilt rear weights?

I'm still debating whether or not have the tires filled with fluid. But I found that a standard milk crate fits perfectly bolted to the hitch plate between the rear wheels. It is sturdy enough to hold me I cut some material from the crate around the hight adjustment so that it can still be...

    Simple homebuilt rear weights?

Thanks for all the good ideas Kraig. At least one of them is within my fabricating ability! Matt: great comments about filling the tires. The tractor is already quite heavy in the rear (not sure what it will be like with snowblower attached) so even 40-50lbs in each tire may be all I need...

    Simple homebuilt rear weights?

I'm soon going to be switching the mower deck off of my 2086 and putting on the snowblower. I'm planning to pick up some tire chains for the rear but I don't want to spend the $$ for CC rear weight bracket and suitcase weights. Has anyone come up with a simple homebuilt way to add weight to...
