I went to order a new connecting rod for my K321 and there were two diffrent rods listed for my s/n, one had a longer dipper rod. Is this for a Kohler application other than cub cadet, or are there diffrent oil pans that go to this engine??

Marty, Yes, you want to use the butter first. Depending on the vendor it will be called tinning butter or tinning compound. It's tin that is suspended in a flux. What you do is apply it to cold clean steel and then heat it with a torch (propane is more than sufficient). As the metal heats up...

Michael, I fixed a pin hole on my model 70 gas tank last year and used 30/70 tin/lead and tinning butter. If you "tin" the steel first the lead will stick everytime provided that the metal is clean. The tin/lead alloy will remain more workable without going to a liquid state the way that...

I'm having problems getting my K321 timed correctly. My flywheel marks are C and P has anyone seen this before? The marks are clearly visable, is it possable the the flywheel was stamped incorrectly and should have been TDC and SP?

I am assembling a K321 and can't find a good picture of the crank to cam timing marks. The service manual on Kohlers web site doesn't have good pictures. This motor has the balance gears also, does anyone have some good references?

I picked up a new addition to my Cub stuff yesterd. Its a 14 HP for the 1200, I tore it down and now its off to the machine shop to get the small scoring out of the cylinder wall. Should be a good motor.

The Cub Cadet gods have smiled upon me. Someone gave me a 1200 today. He said it ran like a champ twenty years ago but it got parked in the barn because first gear went out on it. I hope it isn't in too bad of condition because this machine looks really stout.

Thanks for the advice I will try your suggestions this weekend. I was thinking I might have a clutch problem or deck issue, but I'm a little stumped.
