Brad, I see no advantage as to where the spark plug is located on one of these engines. If there was much of an advantage I would say one head might burn cleaner than the other but, there would be little to no power gain. If we were talking high performance engines the answer would be different.

Art, you are probably right, I just never had any use for phonetics. Ken Weaver, I can't believe you married a McBee. Tried to send you a private message it didn't work. Gonna have to see if Charlie has any parts left next week, I took a 1650 a part a year ago and haven't done anything...

Ken, sadly I don't think most Americans are taught to spell anymore, just go with how it sounds and don't care. See Charlie, ole Kentuck can even draw a lurker out of the shadows.

I forgot to mention, the Walbro I took off and the Carter I rebuilt have identical bolt patterns for the air cleaner.

Ok guys, time for some help. I looked in the vault and didn't find an answer. It's always what should be the simple crap or obvious that gets me. The 1650 I bought didn't have an air cleaner so I bought one locally. It had the non adjustable Walbro on it that was shot so I took a Carter off...

Charlie, I know you already know this but, the U bracket seems to need to come down and to the back. What is driving me crazy (looking at the pictures) is Why??? It doesn't appear bent or tweaked anywhere. Ken, I would never call Charlie "Mr. Sensitive" either, however I'm not going to call...

Greg, I have a 1963 off topic tractor that was doing the same thing and finally corrected it by putting a Briggs and Straton plastic screen type fuel filter (gravity flow) on it. Apparently some paper fuel filters only work properly with an engine with a pump. Don't know if you are running a...

Frank, the advice from Donald and Terry is good, but overheating can also be caused by a lean condition in the fuel system. Start it up and spray around the carb base plate (gasket) and the throttle shaft with WD-40, carb cleaner or something similar. See if this changes the tone of the engine...

Thanks Charlie, we all feel better now. I've had the steering wheel soaking in P.B. for over a week. Rigged up the bolt and nut, just like everyone does,(this is the same way I have removed steering wheels all my life) got my knees under it, one lick on the bolt with a hammer and the %@**&...

Charlie, no one has pulled your chain lately so I'll make my first attempt. I have to take car sick medicine when you are nice, please refrain! (PLEASE AND THANK YOU) Had to wait for the first of the month for my cub allowance to order manuals and some parts for the new to me 1650. Hope to get...

Marlin, thanks for the encouragement. I'm sure I'll be asking for help before I'm done. The experience and knowledge you guys have is amazing. (not brown nosing, I have a little bit of Ken Weaver's attitude, if I didn't believe this I would say so) As I find more cubs I'll probably have to start...

Thanks Charlie, but I'm like the guy in the movie, "I gots to know" I am more amazed that I got 3 out of 4 pictures posted. I know less about computers than I do Hydros. Thanks Matt! I may try to remake or change the sheet metal so it will cool without them as I like to run stacks on my tractors.

A guy opened his mouth and I stuck $100.00 in it for a Oct. 1978 cub 1650. It probably should be a parts tractor but they are too hard to find in the Ozark Mtns. The tractor is out of Illinois and probably hasn't been cared for properly since it came to Arkansas. I have the spindles freed up and...

Curtis, and Kraig, I use a spray glass cleaner (Windex etc.)instead of dish soap for decals and follow the body man's advise as far as bubbles or placement. It has worked for me for years. Works on window tinting also if ya want to do your cab.
