I recently got a '76 or '77 model 1000 from my brother in law, who had stopped using it a few years ago. He is moving to a new place, and asked if I wanted his old mower since I had fixed it for him a few times in the past. To RPALMER, I am a conveyor mechanic and we use a lot of those cam lock bearings. Th most common reason I see for them failing is that the person putting one on really beats the punch to get it good and tight. This can cause the inner bearing race to crack and fail.
