For those of you who have enjoyed some of the old slides that I've posted, I had to share this story and these photos with you. Keep in mind that this event took place in the late 1940's or early 50's and so if these were photographs they'd be black and white. That is one thing that I find fascinating with these old slides--THEY'RE COLOR!

My great uncle decided to compete in a plowing competition with our farms largest tractor, the Case LA!

He used our three bottom for the competition.

He had the plow set up just right and he did a great job plowing.

He plowed nearly arrow straight and...

had a very clean dead furrow. However, his head lands didn't start and finish as evenly as one of the other competitors and it cost him first place. We were still proud of how well he did in this plow day. I wish he would've entered more of them.

Checkout this IH in the competition as well.

Joshua,
Next time you see your Great Uncle ask him if that was in Big Rock Illinois. They have a plowing compitition there

Josh;
My Dad says the guy that has the Case LA is thinking of selling it. I hope Dad can pick it up.
It's to bad we let it get away in the first place.
Mike

To add to my cousins old school pictures from our family I have a few of the CASE 930 when they bought it new and were plowing with it.

This was a big tractor back then. When you go from a LA Case to this it's a big difference. lol
Putting fluid in the tires.
