Stupid question of the day:

I’ve read the shop manual and the FAQ. I still am not clear if I use Hy-Tran or gear lube (90 weight) in the tranny. Is it an either/or situation?

104 model.

No where in any manual does it say to use 90 wt. Just sayin. You can use Hytran if you want, but there's no need. 90 wt. is to thick for cold weather. Use 30Wt. in the rear end, just like the FAQ's say. ;-) Cub Cadet FAQ
