Hi everyone...it's been awhile. I've been more focused on my MF equipment of late but I have some questions about the narrow frame mule drives on my IH tractors. Most of the time I use the older style mule drive on my 70, 100, and 123. I use those with the pin on subframe and cast end decks. However, I do have 73 I have used with a tiller and occasionally mow with a stamped deck where I use a quick attach style mule drive and subframe.

My question has to do with proper setup regarding the pulley tightener(s) and spring on these mule drives. The older mule drives for the 100 seem simpler and I don't believe they require a spring when mowing. But when is the spring used on the QA mule drives? For mowing and tilling, or for tilling only? And should there be two pulley tighteners protruding from the front of the QA mule drives or just one?

A quick read thru the manuals section should have all the instructions on proper belt tension for mowers and tillers.

Yes, see the manual. You'll find a diagram showing where to put finger tension to squeeze the belt with mild pressure to keep a 4" distance. That's how it is on my CC 102 with 42" oem mower.
Cheers, Jack

Where is the manuals section located now? Not seeing it on the main menu.
