My main man Merle died today which happens to be his birthday. He was 79 years old. He has always been one of my favorites.

R.I.P. Merle

.

Great great artist!
As were all of 'em from that generation.
They made music...
And songs with a story....
Most of the crap they call country now a days is just a bunch of noise.

I could listen to Merle and Willie sing all night long..

So long, Lefty, RIP....

Very sad news. Now I know that we're growing younger towards eternity... we're losing all those that could really sing.

I'm a younger fella, but I enjoy GOOD music. Merle was a singer of GOOD music. R.I.P. he will be thoroughly missed.

I live in Southeast Missouri near the town of Cape Girardeau. Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson were to be in concert together tonight in Cape Girardeau. Willie decided to carry on with the concert and not cancel it. I'm sure it will be a huge tribute to Merle.....

Kirk...
That takes me back...
When Jim Reeves was killed in the plane crash back in '64...

I was in the Army stationed at FT Story, VA My buddy and I had tickets to see him and Kitty Wells in concert in Va Beach. He was one of a kind also.

Wish a buck was still silver
It was back when the country was still strong
Never a more true statement
I grew up listening to my Dad play guitar and sing along to The Hag and he passed it on to me.
Real country
Makes me feel old that the greats are movin on
