When mtd took over did they cheapen up the m18 engines ?

M18 is a good engine, and never came from the factory in an IH Cub Cadet. Only in the MTD-built units.

Kohler made the engine, which has nothing to do with the manufacturer of the tractor...

The M18 is an improvement even over the Series II KT17 it replaced. The only negatives I have with the M18 is the thirst for fuel, and the governor gear.
