Just bought these 2 along with other parts. Will be busy repairing them for quite a while. Just looking at them I see many problems. 129 has led lights, different size front tires, no voltage regulator, and has a lot of shade tree repairs done to it. Will need lots of parts and plenty time to bring it back to life.

The 682 has a magnum 18 installed in it. The driveshaft wobbles in a inch circle, does not charge the battery, runs rough, has been rewired with plastic twist connecters, lots of steering wheel slack.

Just a few things noticed while walking around looking at them. I'm sure there will be many more unseen problems when I start to rework them.

Nice find. Keep us posted on what you do to them. Like many others, I like to see the old in brought back to life.
Good catch on getting the pair of them.

Started with the wiring on the 682. Had a lot of twist lock connectors that I removed and soldered together.
Found out that it was not charging the battery. Stator was ok but the voltage regulator was not. Replaced regulator and now charges. Picture 5018 and 5024

The starter was turning the engine over slow and sometime not at all. Removed the starter and cleaned the armature and brushes. Greased the bearings and reassembled it. Works like new and starts every time.

Next was the driveshaft. IT running out in a 1" circle. Took it apart and found this. Picture 5044 and 5048 and this Picture 5056. Replaced them and 4 new flex disk.

On with the disk brakes, They were quite rusty and not working at all. Sand blasted and re painted.5077 and 5082.

Started repaint. Picture 5019, 5083, 5097, 5096, 5087, 5092.

And the mower deck. Picture 5029. Sharpened all blades and checked bearings. Installed new belt reassemble and painted. Picture 5084.

Changed all oils and greased fittings. Put back together and it's ready to go. Picture 5142 and 5144.

Next the 129 that want be as easy as this one. It in worse shape by far.
