I've been lurking and just signed up. I have a 149 that I bought about a year ago and have never "really" got it running. I'm not much into hydros so it is sold awaiting the new owner to pick it up. I have bought a 100 that runs.

And I have found 5 more, a 102, 104, 108, 122, and a 128. I plan to start hauling them home next week.

:censored2::censored2::censored2: I went with money in hand and trailer in tow today to begin bringing home the other tractors. The older gent decided he didn't want to sell any of them. I didn't say much, trying not to offend him, yet, because he also has a 1954 Power King tractor that he says he will still sell me and I didn't want to ruin that deal too.

No, he only lives a couple or three miles from me. Like I said, he's getting older and I suppose his mind and memory are subject to change. We are getting some rain , probably for the next couple of days here so I can't get the truck and trailer in to the Power King ( actually an Economy I guess, since it's a 1954) to get it. He was still willing to sell it to me yesterday so I hope his mind doesn't change again before I can get it. I was afraid to pre-pay him for it, knowing his memory might fail too! I hope to have a buddy go back Saturday with his 4x4 truck and my trailer.
Who knows he might still decide to let me have the Cub Cadets, I'm just not going to offer more money than we first agreed on.

I'd agree with everything you said. Who knows he may come out and say "Hey, When you gonna pick these up?" "I thought you wanted them?"
My dad does it to me all the time. He forgets what happened yesterday. 8-(

I learned my lesson the hard way about 10 years ago with a CL ad for a car in VA. NEVER pay for anything until the deal is done and you are there to take the product you've purchased.

Really nice older man and I had multiple phone conversations. Given the distance, I needed to arrange a weekend that worked for us both. I also had intentions of driving the car back home, as the ad clearly stated "garage kept, immaculate condition, nice classic car". Well, I had traveled 4 hours to get there only find that this car the old man told me over the phone "had my mechanic go over everything, tuned it up and it's running better than ever" wouldn't stay running. After digging about I found it was only running on 3 cylinders. My ex wife and I spent Mother's Day afternoon working on this car in his driveway with the limited hand tools he had and as it got late I gave up and asked for my down payment back. He instead, tried to get me to sign a B.O.S. I refused and reiterated that I wanted my money back as I was already out a trip and a whole day. Needless to say he refused, became irate and called the police to have me escorted out of his gated community (I may have raised my voice slightly when I began to realize he knew what he had and was trying to pawn off a P.O.S. :drool2: ).
When we got back, I spent another $150 having a lawyer draw up a letter threatening court action. Never heard from him nor saw my money again. Taken by an old pappy looking guy that I couldn't believe would do such a thing...

:censored2: still fires me up.
