Wow, is that ever a clean one! The seat has been reupholstered, but whoever did it did a nice job. It has not spent much time out in the sun, the blue on the dash panel is not heavily faded. The mower deck is about as clean of one as I have seen in years. In some ways I think it'd be a shame to repaint that. Perhaps just a little touch up here and there. BTW, my favorite model is the 125 which is the Hydrostatic drive version of the 124.

Thanks everyone! I was very happy with it when we went to get it. It even has the dealer sticker on the hood. I got the clutch replaced last night so that works much better. Its got a few things to fix on it but it will be fun to work on.

I can definitely ask the feller who I got it from about the seat and let you know what I find out.

Brian Sell and his brother (used to be forum members) used to reupholster them. Not sure if they subbed it out or if they did it themselves but they were very nicely done. I have one that they did, I intend to take it to a local shop as an example along with two other fiberglass pans and blue edging that I have and have them reupholster them as closely to the example. Here's my seat. I still have not installed it even though it's been done for well over a decade now (I checked, it was 2003...)

That tractor is far to nice to repaint in my opinion...some rubbing compound and wax would have it looking super sharp. Good original tractors are getting scarce since everybody thinks their tractor needs a spray bomb "restoration" anymore. Worth more in its current condition, IMO.

Great looking seat Kraig! Thats a good idea mgonitzke I didn't stop think about rubbing compound and wax. Yeah I feel like I'm getting talked out of the restoration and I believe I'll take the advice and leave it just the way it is. I'll probably do some touch up on some of the parts and get some of the rust off and repaint as needed.

Maybe if a few of us contacted the folks that do that seat work and arranged to have some done at the same time we could get a price break?

Kraig, you are a lot closer than TX. Keep us posted on whet you come up with.
I have an extra fiberglass core that needs some work but can be salvaged I'm sure.
We need to start saving these cores.
I feel these are about the nicest and most attractive seats ever offered on a GT.

Just a little off topic from seats but, could yall recommend any good websites for parts Im needing to replace some seals and gaskets.
Does anyone have a preference on what brand of SAE-30 is good for the K301-A engine and where can I find the the transmission fluid? Would a autoparts store have it?
