Greetings everyone! Today I purchased a Cub Cadet model 147 with hydro drive, and the electric lift. It also came with a 42" deck, snow plow, and a tiller. This is my first time owning a piece if machinery this old, but it seems to be in really good shape. I'm hoping to learn a lot from you all, and I promise that I'll try to not be too much of a pain.

Thank you for the welcome, and the link to the specialty manuals. I just need to figure out what all belts I'll need and then I think I'll be good. Thanks again!

Does it have the guard around the electric lift? I may have that and the long belt for the tiller.

Welcome to the Forum John. Charlie (Digger) said the 147 is one of his favorite machines, but I have to tell you for me it's one of my most "dis-favorite" tractors. I just hate those electric lifts since they are almost always a problem. Hope yours is working well. If not I believe CCC Specialties has a re-building service or at least the parts you'll need. Mechanical/Electrical rebuilding is something I never really liked to get involved in which is probably why I really don't like the 147. Also, the 14hp Kohler K-series engine in the 147 is somewhat unique with those 2 oil sticks. The one of the side of the block is for checking oil level and the one on the top of the block is for adding oil. If you're thinking you'll just put a long stick in the top you "can't" because there are crankshaft balance gears in the way - which is why Kohler used the 2 stick method. The next series of Kohler K-series engine combined the fill and oil level check on the side mounted stick. Please don't misunderstand. I like ALL IH Cub Cadets but some more than others. The 147 was the top of the line during it's era - it's just towards the bottom of my list of preferred tractors.
You sure found the right spot to get any info, help and support for your 147. Good luck with it.

Welcome John, We need pictures of this fabulous find.

I don't have the attachments hooked up yet. I'm hoping to get the tiller attached by this weekend. That is if I can figure it all out.

Cub Cadet Specialties has a bunch of various manuals available on their website. Here's a few links:

While you cna get to it from the above link, here's a link to the Attachments Page where you'll find the manuals for tillers and some other less common attachments:
