This one kinda ran rough and I was not able to get acceptable performance from it. Since it ran beautiful in it's original tractor, my 1986 1811, I knew the basic engine was probably ok. The carb is the original Carter fully adjustable unit from the blown KT17 series II. I never tore it down before. Well, I finally got around to do it. Upon disassembly, the carb wasn't really filthy, or corroded. I did find some sediment in the bowl.
I sourced new Kohler gasket and carb kit. I did not want to succumb to a Chyna carb, since the throttle shaft was tight on this one, and they are a better quality casting and parts quality.
After everything was cleaned, inspected and float adjusted, it went together well. After reassembly, it started up quickly, and was easily adjusted to run smooth at all speeds and loads.
