Guys,
I hope someone can guide me. I have a chance to buy a sickle bar mower that was mounted on a Cub cadet 104.
I have a 2284, about 25 years newer than the 104.
Do we think it will work? I know I'm going to have to probly have to make brackets, but it it possible/feasible?
I can look at the sickle bar mower up close, cause it's like 4 hours away. And the seller can only give vague measurements.
Any input is appreciated.
Thanx
Ken

Looking at pictures of how the sickle bar mowers attach, I'd say it's definitely do-able. At least worth purchasing and giving it a try! Worse case, you clean up the bar a little and sell it if it doesn't work out OR you use this as an excellent opportunity to buy a 104 and grow your fleet!

Assuming it's a Haban 402C mower? The going rate for them is usually $500-$800 depending on condition. The front mounts will need to be modified where it clamps to the axle, the rear should just mount to the hitch of your 2284. Also, I think you will need a different main drive pulley as the 2284 PTO pulley is 5/8" while the Narrow frames were 1/2".

Definitely can be done but will take some time and effort, only you can judge if that's worth it or not. The suggestion to procure a narrow frame or 104 is a great idea, one can never have too many cubs!!
