Thanks Dave, I will check the 882 parts lookup. Maybe I can find it there. Do you know approximately what year build the 882 is?

I was just thinking about what options I could go with. I like those weather resistant covers, but judging from the last one, I may need to go with the break protection before the weather protection.

The 882 parts lookup has it plain as can be. . . superseded. . . then NLA. None at IHCCW either. I'm back to what do I want to use. I'll find something robust enough for Halogen lighting, then get the LED bulbs and take it easy on the circuit. Hopefully I will remenmber where the side break protectors are used either at work or on a tractor, so I can get one of them.

Okay I am confused, your say your tractor is a 782, and you are looking at a 882 wiring, what model do you have? I included some wiring schematics.

Lewis,
I know. I am confused too. I do not know the history on this tractor at all. I think the serial checks out as a CCC early build 782. I’m told the headlight control should be integrated into the ignition switch, but this broken off switch is where mine are controlled. The switch could have been added anytime, but it looks to be period correct with a weathered baton (galvanized?), not like today’s chrome batons. Dave S. mentioned that his 882 light switch is in the same place as this one, so I went hunting for a Cub Cadet factory
light switch in the 882 parts lookup just hoping to find a factory version even if not the correct one. Maybe I should go with a narrow frame pull/push, or a wide frame version so I know the switch is up to the task of lighting.

Dang it! Now I have another project. I hate wire nuts on machines. They belong in house wiring.

Does anyone know why there has to be a separate switch? I have the same thing but on an IH 782. Instead of a traditional switch, though, it's a knob that has to be pulled in addition to turning back the key.

Here's what the 882/782 parts book shows
#12 is indeed the light switch #725-3087/925-3087
$50 for simple on/off toggle switch!! What a bunch of Bovine excrement, Geesh!!

You can get a very nice military, weatherproof toggle that has that flat stainless (not chrome) baton. Wow, I thought your $50 comment was crazy. Just looked up some switches at Mouser electronics, they ARE priced that high. Where did $12 toggles go??
