Had the carb off for cleaning, replaced gasket. In the throat is a number - 26. I had complained about slow cranking but that ended with new head gasket and proper torque (30 lbs) of the nine bolts. Now to set proper idle of the two needles. Engine warmed up, start with low idle at 2 1/2 turns counterclockwise. Full turns in any direction...Zip! Won't get lean or rich. I had cleaned the carb dipped in acetone overnite. CC102 is 57 years old, maybe need new carb, see them all over at $25. Really? Please recommend one, new or rebuilt. Expect to pay more than $25.
Cheers, Jack

You need to set the main jet before the idle.

Also, acetone is not carb cleaner. Use a spray can of carb cleaner to make sure all of the passages are clear, and also make sure all the hole in the main needle are clear.

Yes, in the manual, point #4 is the main fuel needle setting while point #5 is for low idle setting. I ignored that advice.
Somewhere in these pages acetone was used as a cleaner. Shud have ignored that advice. Have SeaFoam spray ready to go.
