I have a off-topic Lickety Log Splitter with a K181 that was made in 1979 based on the serial number. The starter has an aluminum housing with five standoffs with through holes for screws that hold it to the blower cover. I'll try to get some pictures whne I get home from work tonight.

Bob, what are you looking for ? The whole assembly or just the internals such as catcher and spring?A lot of older boat motors had very similar looking pulls on top..

I need the whole thing. The center screw on mine backed out and the starter came apart while the engine was running. The starter cup ground up the parts before I could shut it down. I got it back together but I question it's reliability over the long haul.

Bob, a lot of mfg use off shelf parts..Have you considered taking the parts to a local small engine repair shop for comparison.It's not a guarantee but it might be worth a shot...79 is not that old.If you can't find it there's the old standby pulley with a rope groove so you can use it...
