I just got this yesterday, it belonged to my mother-in-law's grandfather at one time, then was passed along to her brother, who was going to sell it in a garage sale. I got it at a heavily discounted family price ($75).

I drained and replaced the gas, it fired up without too much fuss. It does surge a bit, but overall runs pretty good! I changed the oil once I got it warmed up, it didn't look too bad but who knows when it was last changed. There are plenty of points to grease as well, but at first glance it looks like it was regularly (or recently) greased.

Looking forward to getting it out in the woods and brush on my property to clear some trails.

I love those things! My advice is take a flat bladed screw driver with you always. the drive slots/ tread will fill with dirt grass etc then it wont want to move - we had a similar brush cutter that had interchangeable attachments. - my father attached a screw driver to the handles with a cable so he would not forget it. ours was a jari also but I recall it being more aerodynamic. had several attachments but its been gone for 30-40 years now
