I have a Cub Cadet 5234D. Six weeks ago I was mowing a n d suddenly it sounded like the transmission flew apart, and the engine stopped. After moving it into my garage and taking it apart I found the drive shaft to the Hydro Gear hydrostatic pump had broken off. It appears when it did the drive shaft failed around. It dented the shroud, dented the frame, and twisted the drive shaft from the engine. It appears that everything moves and turns like it should, and the engine will start. The Hydro Gear BDU-21L-404 is NLA, but parts are. So my plan is to rebuild the pump, and repair the drive shaft. My question, is there anyone out there that has had a similar experience?
