Thanks again kraig for posting these pictures for me. I dont know anything about this critter but I think its pretty neat. Jaeckel brothers here in fort atkinson brought it in. Apparently they started out their excavating business with one of these. It has a 6 cyl hercules engine in it. If anyone knows more about these id be interested to learn more about it. Its in our shop for some exhaust work (cracked manifold)

WOW... I haven't heard the name Jaeckel's since I stopped working in Lake Mills, WI. 16 yrs ago!

I have heard of Huber Mfg, knew they were an ag tractor mfg. But didn't realize they made construction and road maintenance equipment too, which seemed to be their major product line.

Old company, founded in 1854 in Marion, Ohio by Edward Huber who was also a prncipal in the Marion Steam Shovel Co. They built both steam traction engines and early gasoline tractors.

What I didn't realize was that the Huber company was still in operation as recently as 1994. And it's products were still being built as recently as 2009.

I would think Robert's tractor, or more correctly, "Maintainer" was built post WW-2, late 1940's, to early 1950's. And as the land polish on the blades shows, has seen recent use. For a piece of construction equip, it's in really excellent shape. Glad the Jaeckel's are keeping it in good repair.

I just picked up a 1952 Huber maintainer and it appears the head gasket is down hopefully just a head gasket my problem is I have to find a head gasket for this thing and I can’t find out how to identify the engine. It is a six cylinder gas engine does anybody out there know how to identify this engine or where to get parts for it

The nice thing is that Oliver used Hercules engines also . look for a tag on the side of the block . Gaskets are made by several vendors.

likely an ixb. Most of the diesel Oliver machines were not hercules waukesha and the detroit.
