I have had a few tractors, and I restored a 1250 over a hear and it turned out pretty well, except the engine vibration was so obnoxious that I ended up selling it. I had had the engine apart, and the balance shafts were gone. But I read that they made little difference and most guys removed them for fear of failures. Anyway, I sold that tractor, I found a 125 with a sleeve hitch and im gathering parts to rebuild that now. It is really rough! My question today is does this tractor have the correct grille in it? the other 125's I see have a flatter grille. As far as I can tell this tractor is not altered. Pics of the 1250 just for fun. The 125 was $80. It was under a lean to that collapsed on it. Tom and thanks for any help.

Tom, WELCOME!

You did a nice job on the 1250. It's probable that you had the ISO mounts tightened down a bit too much, thus transfering the vibration to the chassis..

The 125 is my favorite model Cub Cadet. You got a deal for that $80, the rear lift is worth more than that!

The grill mesh looks to be correct however the attachment setup is a modification. The headlights are the style for the next series the 1x6/7 not the 1x4/5 series. The tail light for the 1x4/5 should only have one light, the 1x6/7 had two tail lights. The fiberglass seat pan can be reupholstered but make sure to keep the blue edging as it is no longer available. Bummer about the damage to the steering wheel, dash and hood.

Here are some detail photos of the grill mesh and the springs (one per side) that should be holding it in.

Here's a photo of a seat that I had reupholstered years ago. It ends up with a seam in it but it looks close to original.

Tom - the 1250 in your pics sure looks like a 1450 to me. I see 1450 decals, hydraulic lift and lights which were standard on the 1450. Although the lift handle seems to be leaning a little looks like you did a nice refurb on it.

Now, I have to say the 125 is more than really rough, it's a real basket case that most people would just part out. It should be interesting to see you bring it back to life. Please post pics as you go thru it. I'm sure we'd all like to see it as you proceed.

By the way, where are you located?

I have a 1650 that vibrates like no tomorrow. I rebuilt the engine twice balanced every part in it . tried every setting of the ISO mounts loose , tight, and every thing in between Still it is shake ,raddle before it rolls.
I call it old shaky.

Hi and thanks for the info! and it was a 1450 that I restored, not a 1250. I was reading about a 1250 when I wrote the post, LOL I'm in Rochester Hills Michigan.
So far Ive picked up a hood, steering box with wheel and dash, and a NF snowthrower. I have a 48"? deck that looks to be good. Ill take photos. For fun Ive attached Pictures of the 1450 rebuild.
