My cousin was suckered into buying a Gleason garden tractor this past Saturday with a blower, mower, and plow attachments. Sad thing it has a twin cylinder Briggs & Stratton both cylinders are horizontal. Only one cylinder is firing and I just finished rebuilding the carb. Going to check the points Saturday. Anyone have any specs or tips. Thanks.

Brandon K. Would you be able to obtain more information about the engine specifications on this tractor and some pictures of the tractor/engine for us? TIA!!!

Not sure if you actually have a "Gilson" tractor? These were made for many years in Plymouth, WI, as Gilson, later Lawn-Boy and also Ford tractors. Eventually Toro bought Lawn-Boy, which had owned Gilson. Parts are available for them yet.

As far as the engine goes, could be a stuck intake valve or bad valve seat, most likely. Pulling the head should reveal the issue, unless you are positive that it isn't getting spark on one side (very unlikely as this engine fired both cylinders together)

Sometimes a late reply is nothing, other times may be helpful, who knows?
